Sexual assault is an act of violence, not sex. It is a crime and the victim is never to blame.

No one deserves to be a victim.
You did NOTHING to cause this to happen.
Sexual assaults can happen to anyone!

    THINGS TO KNOW, THINGS TO DO NOW:
*Get to a safe place.
*Call emergency 911 OR an emergency number for your area – see links page
*Please do NOT change your clothes, clean up, use the bathroom, eat or drink anything, or even comb your hair. If you do, valuable evidence may be lost. (If you do change your clothes, bring your soiled clothing in a paper bag to give to your local law enforcement center as evidence).
*Call the sexual assault crisis center nearest you.  A counselor/advocate is available 24 hours a day, seven days a week to listen and offer support, as well as to provide you with information and resources to help you best decide what to do next.  All services are free and confidential.


    YOUR RIGHTS:

*You have the right to an advocate (Someone trained
  to support, listen, encourage, explain, and clarify.)
*You have the right to a medical rape exam to gather
  evidence
*You have the right to refuse a medical exam
*You have the right to allow someone to stay with you
  during questioning or exam
*You have the right to refuse to allow someone to
  stay with you
*You have the right to say NO
*You have the right to say YES
*Ask questions and get answers regarding ant tests, exams, medications, treatments or police reports.
